Choosing The Right Lenses for Your Child

Prescribing polycarbonate lenses for children has become standard practice due to its superior impact protection despite its inherent poor optics. Now you no longer have to compromise. New RESOLUTION lenses use new ECM-9 technology which eliminates the optical flaws found in other polycarbonate lenses. This remarkable new process produces a lens with the optics of glass. Now you can give your child a lens that provides safety and accurate optical correction. See our illustrated lab results which show the difference between other polycarbonate lenses and new RESOLUTION.)

Insist that your child be given new RESOLUTION. Click here for an Online Referral for a Retailer in your area.

(This information has been provided by Prevent Blindness Conecticut (an affiliate of Prevent Blindness America).

Did you know children should wear sunglasses? Sunglasses are not just a fashion accessory, they protect the eye form ultraviolet (UV) rays and protect against sveral eye problems. children who do not wear sunglasses are at risk for photokeraitis, which is type of sunburn to the surface of the eyes associated with bright sunlight reflected off ski slopes and beaches. Long term exposure to UV rays can lead to eye problems such as cataracts, macular degeneration, skin cancer of the eyelids, and perygium.

Follow these rules when purchasing sunglasses for children:

  • Sunglasses should have a label that specifically states that they block 99%-100% of both UV-A ad UV-B rays.
  • Sunglasses should be free from bubbles, scratches and distortions.
  • Sunglasses should fit properly, completely covering the eyes and fitting snugly against the bride of the nose.
